Welcome to my online gallery of fine photography. I have worked over forty years, on and off, behind a camera using film and, now, I have added on the digital world. Upon relocating to the great Southwest of the U.S., I found myself surrounded by some of the most striking landscape and natural beauty of this country. I pursue the light as it reveals this sector of Planet Earth, plus, of course, images captured from my broader travels. I capture the land, the panoramic views and the close-ups, and I also photograph the people, the architecture, the wildlife, along with the events of life in motion. I hope you will tour the many rooms of this gallery and come away with a broader appreciation of our living planet. Thank you, and please visit again soon.

Morning Cottonwoods Autumn in the Mountains of Northern New Mexico
(Contains 45 photos)
Autumn comes early in the Sangre de Christos Mountains. Leaves begin turning in late August along with fading wildflower blossoms and cold winds bearing traces of snow arrive in September.
The Cellar Abandoned
(Contains 23 photos)
When we explore our landscape, we inevitably encounter the abandoned and forlorn remains of human civilization left to ruin. There are buildings, homes, and other things that tell us an incomplete story of a time forgotten, eras in the lives of people long gone. We gaze at these things as we visually and emotionally try to fathom what it was like in "the day"...what happened?...where did they go?

Cayote Brush Out On The Mesa
(Contains 37 photos)
From south central Colorado and down through the top center of New Mexico stretches a vast, high plain known as the Colorado Mesa, with altitudes of 6000 to 7000 feet and flanked east and west by mountains. Through the middle the Rio Grande carves a deep gorge. At Taos, New Mexico, this vast and beautiful, sagebrush covered plain will reveal the details of its natural beauty if we simply walk out into it and quietly observe its treasures.
The Cattle Auction 5 The Cattle Auction
(Contains 11 photos)
In Oklahoma ranching territory, a Black Friday cattle auction brings out a variety of faces. The auctioneer's song swiftly moves Angus through the pen as subtle nods and gestures in the audience buy new stock for their herds. We see it here in an old film style of recording this age old event.
Winter's Icy Grip
(Contains 13 photos)
The snow high in the Sangre de Christos Mountains of northern New Mexico is normally dry and bitter, coming in upon swift winds. Occasionally, the "wet" snows fall, with grace and silence, leaving the forest draped with its fluffy decor while bending boughs to their limits. It is a fleeting beauty to be followed by another storm borne on the winds.
Taos Mountain These Mountains...
(Contains 44 photos)
The Sangre de Christos Mountains, so named by the early Spanish settlers, are the highest in New Mexico, crested by Wheeler Peak at 13,161'. They extend from southern Colorado southward to the Santa Fe area. This group is also referred to as the Southern Rockies and, indeed, they are part of the same range. The geology and flora, however, differ from the Rocky Mountains to the north.

Here, you can take an ever expanding tour of "These Mountains...".
More Water Iron Horse of the Mountains
(Contains 9 photos)
Narrow guage railroads were built throughout the country primarily serving wilderness areas where tracks had to be built around steep slopes, making difficult acents with tight curves. They hauled timber, mining ore, supplies, and people. Their engines were slow and deliberate and designed to deliver high torque to the drive wheels.

Today, the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad steams back and forth between Chama, New Mexico and Antonito, Colorado climbing up to 10,015' at Cumbres Pass. Engine 484's classic whistle echos through forest and canyon while soot blows into any open window...the train rocks, clanks, and squeaks along this idyllic journey through the past.
Balanced Boulder Spring On The Sandia
(Contains 17 photos)
Sandia Mountain towers above the east side of Albuquerque, New Mexico. In Spring, as the craggy, rocky west face releases its snow and the sun heats up the lower slopes, the Sandia area bursts alive with renewed life.
Travertine Creek II A Plains Wilderness
(Contains 24 photos)
Among the ranches and farms of southern Oklahoma lies a protected area known as the Chickasaw National Recreation Area. It is north of the Arbuckle hills and next to the quiet small town of Sulphur. Fresh, clear water feeds into this park at an area called Antelope Srings producing a clear, rushing stream from which deer and bobcat sip. In November when many of the visitors are gone, this isolated wilderness of thick forest and mild climate reveals its transition into a short, serene winter.
Old Growth II Sedona
(Contains 9 photos)
South of Flagstaff, Arizona as the high terrain of the north descends out of the Cococino National Forest, stretches a land of red rock. As you travel down through Oak Creek Canyon these crimson iron oxide laden rock faces and eroding monuments appear.

Sedona is a land of spiritual journies and a haven for the arts.
